In the fast-paced and ever-evolving world we live in, it's crucial to be mindful of the things that we choose to watch, hear, and surround ourselves with. The song 2007 “Slow Fade” by Casting Crowns always has served as a reminder to me.
"Be careful little eyes what you see" - is the line that rings most true with me. These words urge us to be mindful of the images and stimuli we expose ourselves to, as they can have a profound impact on our thoughts and shape our paths we walk both early and later on in life. How true that the second glance is the thing that ties our hands, the consequences of our actions even with little eyes is lasting, and binding.
"It's a slow fade, when you give yourself away" - The transition from absolute right and wrong to shades of gray can be subtle, but its effects are significant. A cautionary tale goes forth here, reminding us that the choices we make today can have long-lasting consequences that may ultimately lead us astray.
"The journey from your mind to your hands is shorter than you're thinking" -
This line reminds me that our thoughts can quickly manifest into actions, and we must be cautious about the choices we make. we have to be vigilant against overconfidence, reminding us that even those who think they stand firm may find themselves sinking.
“Daddies never crumble in a day
Families never crumble in a day”
As a Husband and Father this line strikes at me with a passion I can barely form into words. So, I won’t, I’ll leave it there if your a dad or a husband, I likely don’t need to anyway.
Let this article and the song be a reminder of the all too importance of vigilance in our daily lives. That we should be mindful of what we, and our kids see and hear, as these influences shape our thoughts, decisions, and ultimately, our character. By being aware of the gradual nature of compromise and the potential consequences of our actions, we can strive to live with integrity and make choices that align with our proclaimed values.
So, Let us remember to be careful little eyes, little ears, and little lips, for the Father above is looking down in love, guiding us towards a life of purpose and righteousness.
Slow Fade by Casting Crowns
Be careful little eyes what you see
It's the second glance that ties your hands
As darkness pulls the strings
Be careful little feet where you go
For it's the little feet behind you
That are sure to follow
It's a slow fade
When you give yourself away
It's a slow fade
When black and white have turned to grey
And thoughts invade, choices made
A price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
It's a slow fade
It's a slow fade
Be careful little ears what you hear
When flattery leads to compromise
The end is always near
Be careful little lips what you say
For empty words and promises
Lead broken hearts astray
It's a slow fade
When you give yourself away
It's a slow fade
When black and white have turned to grey
And thoughts invade, choices made
A price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
The journey from your mind to your hands
Is shorter than you're thinking
Be careful if you think you stand
You just might be sinking
And it's a slow fade
When you give yourself away
It's a slow fade
When black and white have turned to grey
And thoughts invade, choices made
A price will be paid
When you give yourself away
People never crumble in a day
Daddies never crumble in a day
Families never crumble in a day
Oh, be careful little eyes what you see
Oh, be careful little eyes what you see
For the Father up above is looking down in love
Oh, be careful little eyes what you see
I
